Q1: What is a TV encoder?
A1: A TV encoder converses digital video format YCbCr into NTSC/PAL composite or S-Video. It can be used in VCD, DVD, and digital VCR applications.

Q2: What are the differences between the CS8552 and the CS8553?
A2: The CS8552 provides two channels for S-video output or two composite video outputs, and the CS8553 only provides one composite video output.

Q3: Why does the IC sometimes fail when it is turned on?
A3: We suggest that you connect a capacitor (0.1uF) between SLEEP and Vcc to make sure that the IC is reset when it is powered on.

Q4: Why do the colors look incorrect?
A4: It could be that the output waveform is not at the correct level. You have to adjust the value of the resistor connected to FADJ. A suggested value of the resistor is 850 ohms.

Q5: Can I use S-video and composite video at the same time?
A5: No. Only one format can be chosen at a time. In the CS8552, you can select S-video or composite video. But in the CS8553, you can only select composite video.
